Frequently Asked Questions

Pilates FAQs

Is Pilates suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. My sessions are tailored to all levels, including complete beginners and those recovering from injury.

What’s the difference between 1:1 sessions and group classes?
1:1 sessions offer personalised guidance and are ideal for rehab, postural work, or specific goals. Group classes are energising and community-based, with modifications for all levels.

What should I wear for Pilates?
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely—leggings, joggers, or a fitted tee. No shoes needed; socks or bare feet are fine.

Do I need to be flexible or fit to start?
Not at all. Pilates is about building strength and control over time. You’ll start where you are and progress at your own pace.

Massage FAQs

Do I need to be injured to book a massage?
Not at all. Massage is beneficial for everyone—whether you're recovering from injury, managing stress, or simply need an MOT for your body.

What’s the difference between Sports & Remedial Massage and Swedish Massage?
Sports & Remedial Massage is targeted and therapeutic, focusing on musculoskeletal issues, recovery, and performance. Swedish Massage is gentler, designed for relaxation, stress relief, and general wellbeing.

Will the massage be painful?
Some techniques may feel intense, especially in areas of tension, but pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level. Communication is key—I’ll check in throughout your session.

What should I wear or bring?
Just yourself! You’ll be asked to undress to your comfort level and lie under towels. I’ll guide you through everything when you arrive.

Why is it important to drink water after a massage?
Massage stimulates circulation and helps release tension and metabolic waste from the muscles. Drinking water afterwards supports your body’s natural detox process, helps prevent soreness, and keeps you feeling refreshed and balanced. Think of it as giving your body a gentle flush—hydration helps everything settle and restore.

General FAQs

Why is the initial consultation important and do I need to disclose all my health issues?
Yes, absolutely. The initial consultation helps me understand your health history, current concerns, and treatment goals.

Sharing any relevant medical conditions, injuries, or medications ensures your massage or Pilates session is safe, effective, and tailored to your needs.

Even minor details—like recent surgeries, joint pain, or chronic conditions—can impact how I approach your treatment.

Everything you share is confidential and helps me support you with the highest level of care.
